Traditionally, members of Bedford Lions collect donations at Christmas. However with ageing membership and many former lions now too frail to help – we would like to work in partnership with Bedford Lions to enable their busiest fundraising time to go ahead.
Bedford Lions will provide: Sleigh, Santa’s Suit, driver, permits from the council, insurance, collection buckets and tabards, promotion in the local community and organisation on the day. BDCPS just need to provide the people to volunteer!
The money raised will be split between us and Bedford Lions.
WE NEED YOU – for street collections and supermarket collections.
STREET COLLECTION VOLUNTEERS:
We need:
A Santa and minimum 6 collectors. Depending on your availability will determine whether we are able to run.
Street collections are 6.00pm – 8.00pm, Monday – Friday evenings. Beginning Monday 6th December and ending Tuesday December 21st.
Street rounds collect between £200-£400 each!
SUPERMARKET COLLECTIONS:
We need you on Saturday’s & Sunday’s at one of the Bedford Supermarkets each weekend through December. We will confirm which supermarkets as soon as we know!
The length of day and/or shift can be flexed according to the number of volunteers available.
As with the street rounds you may pick one day, or a whole weekend block depending on availability.
Saturday’s:
4 x 2 hour shifts 9.00am – 5.00pm.
Each shift needs 2 collectors and 1 Santa = 12 people in total for the day.
Sunday’s:
3 x 2 hour shifts 10am – 4pm.
Each shift needs 2 collectors and 1 Santa = 9 people in total for the day
At a supermarket we can collect up to £1000 or more, especially Saturdays!
If you can help at ANY of the dates or times please complete the form using the link below. You just do what you are able. We would love lots of our young people to come along and help with this as it really helps when people see who they are supporting.
Or if you fancy yourself as a volunteer Santa, everything will provided except you must provide your own wig & beard!
Thank you for any help you can give. Please email ellie@bdcps.org.uk if you have any questions at all.
